Privacy Policy

Numzi is a digital learning service owned and operated by Ravish Qureshi, an individual proprietor based in India. In this document, "Numzi", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Ravish Qureshi, operating under the brand name Numzi.
This policy explains what Ravish Qureshi, operating under the brand name Numzi, collects when you use Numzi, why, and what control you have. We have tried to write it plainly rather than in legalese.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run your account and show your child's progress. We do not sell your data, we do not advertise to your child, and we never see your card details. Where an activity listens to your child read aloud, that needs your permission and we never record the audio.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Ravish Qureshi, an individual proprietor in India, operating as Numzi. You can reach us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
2. What we collect
- Account details - your email address and name, received from Google when you sign in with Google.
- Child details you choose to give - a first name (or nickname) and date of birth, used only to personalise the experience and pick age-appropriate activities. You can leave these blank or use a nickname.
- Learning activity - which games were played, for how long, and simple scores, so we can show progress and recommend what to play next.
- Subscription status - whether you have an active plan, and a payment reference from Dodo Payments. We never receive or store your card, UPI or bank details.
- Usage and device data - pages visited, approximate location (country/city level), browser and device type, collected through analytics.
- Speech - used live, never collected. Two activities can listen through the microphone, with your permission, so a child can read or answer out loud. We do not record or store that audio. See Using the microphone below.
3. Children's information
Numzi is bought and operated by a parent or guardian, not by a child. Children do not create accounts, cannot make payments, and are not asked to enter personal information.
- Any information about a child is provided by you, the parent, and is used only to run the service for you.
- We do not show third-party advertising to children and we do not build advertising profiles of children.
- We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
- You can ask us to delete your child's details at any time while keeping your account, or delete the account entirely.
4. Using the microphone
One activity invites your child to read a word aloud, and another lets them answer by speaking instead of typing. Those are the only places Numzi uses the microphone.
- Your browser asks first. The microphone can only be switched on with your permission, and your browser is what asks for it. You can refuse, or withdraw it later in your browser's site settings.
- Your browser's speech service turns the speech into text - not Numzi. Depending on which browser and device you use, that happens on the device itself or on the browser maker's servers. We have no control over which, and it can change when your browser updates.
- We do not record, store or send the audio anywhere ourselves. Nothing is saved to a file, kept on our servers, or used to train anything. All we keep is whether the activity was completed, exactly as with a tapped answer.
- The microphone is only open during that activity and closes as soon as the child moves on, answers, or the attempt times out.
- Every activity works without it. If you refuse the microphone, or your browser does not support it, there is always a button to continue instead. Nothing is locked behind speaking.
5. How we use it
- To create and run your account and log you in.
- To deliver the curriculum, remember progress and recommend what to play next.
- To take payment, manage your subscription and issue refunds.
- To provide support when you contact us.
- To understand which parts of the site are used, so we can improve them.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
6. Your consent
We process your information on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account and subscribe, and to perform the contract between us. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may withdraw consent at any time - though we may then be unable to continue providing the service.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Numzi:
- Supabase - database, authentication and storage of your account and progress.
- Vercel - website hosting and privacy-friendly traffic analytics.
- Google - sign-in with Google, and Google Analytics for usage measurement.
- Dodo Payments - payment processing, subscription mandates and tax. As our Merchant of Record they are the seller of record for your subscription and handle your payment credentials under their own policies.
Separately from the above, when a speaking activity is used, your own browser passes the speech to its built-in speech service to turn it into text - on Apple devices that is Apple's, on Chrome it is Google's. That happens between your browser and its maker, not through Numzi: we never receive the audio, so we cannot pass it on. See Using the microphone above.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of users.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your light/dark theme, and avoid double-counting events. Analytics providers may set cookies to measure usage. You can clear these in your browser, though signing in will then be required again.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain records (for example invoices and tax records) for the period required by law.
10. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with our hosting providers under access controls, including row-level security so one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and keep our dependencies current.
11. Your rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and your child;
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data and close your account;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave.
Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page, and tell you directly if the change is significant.
